Studio Heim featured on Nordiska Kök: our timeless shaker kitchen in Scotland

Celebrating a feature that reflects our love of thoughtful design and Scandinavian influences

We’re absolutely delighted to share that Studio Heim was recently featured on the Nordiska Kök Kitchen Journal, showcasing the kitchen from my home in Linlithgow, Scotland. The article highlights a beautifully designed Shaker kitchen in soft white and deep green tones — a space that brings together calm function, timeless materials, and that quiet sense of everyday comfort we always cherish in our work.

At Studio  Heim, we’ve always believed that great design isn’t just about how a room looks — it’s about how it feels to live in. This ethos is something I try to bring into every project: creating spaces that enrich daily life through thoughtful layout, material choices, and a balance of form and function. That same philosophy is reflected in this kitchen, which blends Scandinavian simplicity with a warm, considered aesthetic.

A kitchen that balances tradition and calm elegance

The Nordiska Kök article describes the kitchen’s soft colour scheme and clean lines, noting how these elements flow throughout the home to create cohesion and serenity. Designed in collaboration with the Swedish kitchen maker, the space embodies both classic Shaker proportions and a contemporary Scandinavian sensibility — bringing warmth and practicality together in a timeless way.

Key features highlighted include:

  • A muted palette of soft white and dark green, creating depth without overwhelming the space.

  • Quartz worktops and antique brass fixtures, which give tactile warmth and refinement.

  • Integration with the utility room design, maintaining continuity and functionality.

  • Thoughtful touches like a dedicated dog shower, which is both playful and highly practical for everyday life.

These details might seem small, but together they create a space that feels calm, considered, and alive with personality — exactly the kind of outcome we strive for in our design work.

Why this matters to us

Being featured in a space like Nordiska Kök’s Kitchen Journal is particularly meaningful because it celebrates craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and enduring style — values that are close to our hearts at Studio Heim. Their approach to bespoke Scandinavian kitchens, crafted in Sweden’s carpentry studio outside Gothenburg, aligns beautifully with our belief in designs that are honest, functional, and tailored to how people live.

It’s also a reminder that design isn’t just about trends — it’s about creating environments that stand the test of time and truly support the lives lived within them.

A little inspiration for your own kitchen

Whether you’re planning a renovation or simply love kitchen design, we hope this feature inspires you to think about:

  • How colour and materials can shape the feel of a space

  • Why balance between tradition and simplicity matters in everyday use

  • How calm functionality can elevate even the busiest room in your home

It was a joy to see our kitchen featured in this way, and we’re grateful to Nordiska Kök for sharing it with their community. You can read the full article for even more beautiful imagery and insight into how this space came together.
